Smock is honored to be the committee chair to  determine the General Fiction 2014 Book of the Year for Florida State University

Shara is on the boards of the Florida Writers Association and the Florida Writers Foundation and a member of several national writers' associations. Prior to books she wrote more than thirty computer software manuals and numerous features for magazines and newspapers, including a column for The Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
